What to do During Monday Fast-

Start your Day with devotion– Get up Early in morning and after getting ready take a vow to observe fast with full of devotion.

How to perform Pooja– Go to any Shiv Temple for performing Pooja. Offer Ganga jal to shivling then Offer Raw milk, Curd, ghee, Honey, sesame seed, Chandan, Bel patra, Fruits, Flower, Prasad, perfume. Chant Shiv Mantra 108 time, and offer Sri Ganesh and Shiv Arati. Remember always offer Sri Ganesh Arati before Shiv Arati.

What to eat during fast– Devotee keep fast whole days, you may take some seasonal fruits and milk, curd or Bottle gourd Kheer, tea and water. If you have can’t live without salt, use Sendha Namak or Rocksalt. Do not eat Garlic, onion, Spices or Nonveg they all are said to be Tamasi food and devotee must not eat them.

You can open you fast in evening with falahar, after performing e evening Pooja and arati, perform evening Pooja in Pradosh Kaal (when sun start setting and Night start rising)  Pradosh time is one hour  before sunset to one hour after sunset, you can check sunset time from new paper or online. After Evening Pooja you can open your fast with falahar only means you can not eat grain Turmeric and plain salt. You can eat Kuttu or Singhada chapatti, Potato made with rock salt and without Turmeric. You can have some fruits and milk. Do not eat Garlic, Onion and spiced food or Nonveg.

Have plenty of water during fast so that you be hydrated whole day and free from  acidity.

5. Festivals and Celebrations

Teej, NagPanchami and Raksha Bandhan

The month of Savan also witnesses the celebration of Teej, NagPunchami and Raksha Bandhan. Teej is a festival primarily celebrated by women, where they observe fasts, sing traditional songs, and perform dances to honor Goddess Parvati. एक साहूकार था जो भगवान शिव का अनन्‍य भक्‍त था। उसके पास धन-धान्‍य किसी भी चीज की कमी नहीं थी। लेकिन उसकी कोई संतान नहीं थी और वह इसी कामना को लेकर रोज शिवजी के मंदिर जाकर दीपक जलाता था। उसके इस भक्तिभाव को देखकर एक दिन माता पार्वती ने शिवजी से कहा कि प्रभु यह साहूकार आपका अनन्‍य भक्‍त है। इसको किसी बात का कष्‍ट है तो आपको उसे अवश्‍य दूर करना चाहिए। शिवजी बोले कि हे पार्वती इस साहूकार के पास पुत्र नहीं है। यह इसी से दु:खी रहता है।

By Mother Goddess Grace Blessed with Baby Boy – माता पार्वती कहती हैं कि हे ईश्वर कृपा करके इसे पुत्र का वरदान दे दीजिए। तब भोलेनाथ ने कहा कि हे पार्वती साहूकार के भाग्‍य में पुत्र का योग नहीं है। ऐसे में अगर इसे पुत्र प्राप्ति का वरदान मिल भी गया तो वह केवल 12 वर्ष की आयु तक ही जीवित रहेगा। यह सुनने के बाद भी माता पार्वती ने कहा कि हे प्रभु आपको इस साहूकार को पुत्र का वर देना ही होगा अन्‍यथा भक्‍त क्‍यों आपकी सेवा-पूजा करेंगे? माता के बार-बार कहने से भोलेनाथ ने साहूकार को पुत्र का वरदान दिया। लेकिन यह भी कहा कि वह केवल 12 वर्ष तक ही जीवित रहेगा। साहूकार यह सारी बातें सुन रहा था इसलिए उसे न तो खुशी हुई और न ही दु:ख। वह पहले की ही तरह भोलेनाथ की पूजा-अर्चना करता रहा। उधर सेठानी गर्भवती हुई और नवें महीने उसे सुंदर से बालक की प्राप्ति हुई। परिवार में खूब हर्षोल्‍लास मनाया गया लेकिन साहूकार पहले ही की तरह रहा और उसने बालक की 12 वर्ष की आयु का जिक्र किसी से भी नहीं किया।

Trader send his Son to Kashi (Varanasi)– जब बालक 11 वर्ष की आयु हो गई तो एक दिन साहूकार की सेठानी ने बालक के विवाह के लिए कहा। तो साहूकार ने कहा कि वह अभी बालक को पढ़ने के लिए काशीजी भेजेगा। इसके बाद उसने बालक के मामा जी को बुलाया और कहा कि इसे काशी पढ़ने के लिए ले जाओ और रास्‍ते में जिस भी स्‍थान पर रुकना वहां यज्ञ करते और ब्राह्मणों को भोजन कराते हुए आगे बढ़ना। उन्‍होंने भी इसी तरह करते हुए जा रहे थे कि रास्‍ते में एक राजकुमारी का विवाह था। जिससे उसका विवाह होना था वह एक आंख से काना था। तो उसके पिता ने जब अति सुंदर साहूकार के बेटे को देखा तो उनके मन में आया कि क्‍यों न इसे ही घोड़ी पर बिठाकर शादी के सारे कार्य संपन्‍न करा लिये जाएं। तो उन्‍होंने मामा से बात की और कहा कि इसके बदले में वह अथाह धन देंगे तो वह भी राजी हो गए। राजा ने बहुत सारा धन देकर राजकुमारी को विदा किया। शादी के बाद लड़का जब राजकुमारी से साथ लौट रहा था तो वह सच नहीं छिपा सका और उसने राजकुमारी के ओढ़नी पर लिख दिया: राजकुमारी, तुम्हारा विवाह मेरे साथ हुआ था, मैं तो वाराणसी पढ़ने के लिए जा रहा हूँ और अब तुम्हें जिस नवयुवक की पत्नी बनना पड़ेगा, वह काना है।
जब राजकुमारी ने अपनी ओढ़नी पर लिखा हुआ पढ़ा तो उसने काने लड़के के साथ जाने से इनकार कर दिया। राजा को जब ये सब बातें पता लगीं, तो उसने राजकुमारी को महल में ही रख लिया।

उधर लड़का अपने मामा के साथ वाराणसी पहुँच गया और गुरुकुल में पढ़ना शुरू कर दिया। जब उसकी आयु 16 वर्ष की हुई तो उसने यज्ञ किया। यज्ञ के समाप्ति पर ब्राह्मणों को भोजन कराया और खूब अन्न, वस्त्र दान किए,  भांजा बहुत देर तक बाहर नहीं आया तो मामा ने अंदर जाकर देखा तो भांजे के प्राण निकल चुके थे। वह बहुत परेशान हुए लेकिन सोचा कि अभी रोना-पीटना मचाया तो ब्राह्मण चले जाएंगे और यज्ञ का कार्य अधूरा रह जाएगा। जब यज्ञ संपन्‍न हुआ तो मामा ने रोना-पीटना शुरू किया।

Long Life given to Boy by Shiv Ji– उसी समय शिव-पार्वती उधर से जा रहे थे तो माता पार्वती ने शिवजी से पूछा हे प्रभु ये कौन रो रहा है? तभी उन्‍हें पता चलता है कि यह तो भोलेनाथ के आर्शीवाद से जन्‍मा साहूकार का पुत्र है तब माता पार्वती कहती हैं कि हे स्‍वामी इसे जीवित कर दें अन्‍यथा रोते-रोते इसके माता-पिता के प्राण निकल जाएंगे। तब भोलेनाथ ने कहा कि हे पार्वती इसकी आयु इतनी ही थी सो वह भोग चुका। लेकिन मां के बार-बार आग्रह करने पर भोलेनाथ ने उसे जीवित कर दिया। लड़का ओम नम: शिवाय करते हुए जी उठा और मामा-भांजे दोनों ने ईश्‍वर को धन्‍यवाद दिया और अपनी नगरी की ओर लौटे। रास्‍ते में वही नगर पड़ा और राजकुमारी ने उन्‍हें पहचान लिया तब राजा ने राजकुमारी को साहूकार के बेटे के साथ बहुत सारे धन-धान्‍य के साथ विदा किया।उधर साहूकार और उसकी पत्‍नी छत पर बैठे थे। उन्‍होंने यह प्रण कर रखा था कि यदि उनका पुत्र सकुशल न लौटा तो वह छत से कूदकर अपने प्राण त्‍याग देंगे। तभी लड़के के मामा ने आकर साहूकार के बेटे और बहू के आने का समाचार सुनाया लेकिन वे नहीं मानें तो मामा ने शपथ पूर्वक कहा त‍ब तो दोनों को विश्‍वास हो गया और दोनों ने अपने बेटे-बहू का स्‍वागत किया। उसी रात साहूकार को स्‍वप्‍न ने शिवजी ने दर्शन दिया और कहा कि तुम्‍हारे पूजन से मैं प्रसन्‍न हुआ। इसी प्रकार जो भी व्‍यक्ति इस कथा को पढ़ेगा या सुनेगा उसके समस्‍त दु:ख दूर हो जाएंगे और मनोवांछ‍ित सभी कामनाओं की पूर्ति होगी।
